About Us

Hepler is a  very small town in southeastern Kansas, with a population of 132. It’s quiet here most of the time. But not so much at our library. We like to have fun here. It’s hard to have fun if it’s quiet.

We play games, watch movies and listen to music. Students who use the library do get their work done. We respect those who need it quiet.

Please, drop in and see us sometime. We love visitors!

  1. Hi. I was trying to get some information on my grandparents. I’m 67. Their names were Frank and Lucretia Gillaspie. They ran a produce store. I’m 67. Frank died when I was 9 mos. old. She passed away in 1959 I believe. I know they are buried in the local cemetery. She was the librarian in Hepler when I was growing up. I remember she wrote poetry. The library used to be on the main street in town. I have some wonderful memories of Hepler. My father was Francis Paul Gillaspie. He was from a family of 3 boys and a girl named Helen who died from TB. If you would have any information about my family, I would love to hear from you. Thank you. Judy Stover

  2. With all the books of 20 libraries in Kansas, everyone should be able to find books or videos to interest them. An unused library does no one any good. Let’s keep our librarian busy checking out materials.

  3. Hello Hepler,

I am so glad you are alive and well, especially the library which I believe was started by my Grandmother, Mary Craig.

I have many fond memories of visiting Grandma in Hepler and plan on updating my memories by visiting Hepler in the next few weeks. I would love to visit the library and am hoping the First Christian Church is still holding services.

    Hope to see you soon.
